Dr. Leila Keyvani
Dr. Keyvani completed her MD degree at Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 1999. She moved to Canada the same year and completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship Training at Health Sciences Center and St. Boniface Hospital in Manitoba in 2004 and 2006, respectively.
Since her graduation, Dr. Keyvani has been working as staff gastroenterologist at different hospitals in British Columbia. She briefly worked as a locum staff at Royal Columbian Hospital in Early 2007.Then she began working at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver in Aug 2007. She also became an active member of LAIR center in July 2008.
Dr. Keyvani developed an interest in research from early days of her residency and fellowship training. She has participated in various research activities and has presented a number of abstracts at National and International Gastroenterology meetings. These abstracts have primarily been focused on gastrointestinal bleeding. Furthermore, she has published papers along with her colleagues in International and Canadian peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Keyvani is passionate and committed to medical teaching and has therefore actively participated in tutoring UBC medical students in Gastroenterology Clinical Skills since 2007. Through various public presentations she has also participated in increasing public awareness of common gastrointestinal diseases, something she believes to be of vital importance.
Dr. Keyvani is a member of the British Columbia Medical Association, the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterological Association.
Dr. Keyvani is fluent in English and Farsi (Persian).
